Thysix was standing at the bottom of a cliff, back straight for his full large form to show. He was in his training uniform, only a loose pair of pants without shoes. His Zanpakto, Ironside, was on top of the cliff, the point stuck into the ground so it’s metal handle stuck into the air. Thysix stared at the giant boulder before him, rough, earthly, not yet smoothed by erosion and time. Every hidden crevice filled with detail, every corner sharp and solid. It was so beautiful in it’s simplicity, and it could’ve been created for that soul purpose. Thysix ran his hands over the surface of the rock, looking over for any weak point. A few minutes past, and after no weakness was found, the captain stepped back.
He closed his eyes, pointed his index finger at the boulder, and slowly moved it toward the rock. Slowly, his finger touched the boulder, but as soon as it landed on the face of it, the rock burst into thousands of pieces, falling with a clatter onto the ground. Thysix opened his eyes and stared at the ground before him, now littered with pebbles. He knelt down and picked one up, staring at it. How interesting that something that big could be just as beautiful scaled down. The fifth squad captain set down the pebble carefully, putting it in the exact same place it had been.
He stood up, turned to the cliff rock face, and looked up. In another mood, the cliff would have been nice and leisurely to climb, with easy hand and footholds. But for now, Thysix was content with simply getting his Zanpakto. The captain jumped up the rocky cliff, a feat that would have been impossible for most shinigami, but simple for one with his power. He took a seat next to Ironside pulled the knife out of the ground, it’s pure surface reflecting in the light of the bright sun. Atop the cliff was a sight similar to that below, heavy boulders and rocks surrounding him, natural barriers and platforms. The ground rolled gently into a hill, allowing higher ground. Thysix realized with a smile that he felt more like he was in an arena rather than the outdoors. An arena with diverse landscapes and set for battle, but an arena none the less. The captain stood once again, scanning the landscape for anyone he could test his skills against.
