Ryusuke Korai, God of Flash[PRIVATE]W.I.P.

Standing at 5'10" tall, Ryu does not cut an imposing figure. His red hair, cut short to keep it form blocking his eyes in combat, is kept neat so as not to slow him down by flailing around. His eyes, cold and distant pits of blackness, are always alert, and almost never close, even when he sleeps. He is very lean, and relies mainly on his own speed during combat, although he is surprisingly strong for his size. The rest of his body is kept hidden from view by his clothing, which he only removes to bathe. His arms and legs are covered in scars from old battles, and his back is similarly scarred, which is usually why he never removes his clothes, for he sees them as "signs of shame" instead of objects of pride, as most Shinigami do. His chest is unusually free of scars, as is his face, and although he attributes this to his superior fighting skills, most believe it (much to his chagrin) to be because none of his opponents are willing to face him openly in direct combat, fearing annihilation. He has a serial number on the back of his neck, which was tattooed onto his skin when he was "born" into the Rebirth project.
Ryu always wears the same clothing, never once changing his outfit since acquiring it some 5 years ago. It consists of a of red over coat, usually unzipped, with black metal shoulder pads, which reach down halfway towards his elbow, and halfway across towards his neck, both of which are attached to the coat via silver studs. There is a small hole in the side of his coat where his Zan's hilt sticks out, allowing him to quickly reach it whenever need be. Underneath his coat, he wears something akin to leather overalls, with strips of metal added in for extra durability. The "overalls" reach all the way towards his ankles, with support straps crossing over each other at his chest, so as to increase mobility and yet keep the "overalls" on. He usually wears black leather boots, strapped to his thighs so as not to come off during combat. On the Back of his cloak is his Symbol, a black dragon breathing fire. He carries his Zanpaktou on his hip, as well as several lighters and, surprisingly, an iPod, which he carried with him everywhere he goes, no matter what the situation.

Ryu was raised almost from birth surrounded by violence and death, which has desensitized him to the point that he feels nothing at all when taking a life, innocent or not. He carries this into the rest of his life, only showing emotions on rare occasions, mainly during battle. Ryu has few friends due to his cold, distant nature, twisted sense of humor, and the all around creepiness of his voice, a piercing, quite sound, almost a whisper, that cuts into your very soul when you hear it, no matter what he is saying. However, Lately Ryu has begun to thaw, Suggesting that perhaps the war forced him to hold onto his personality defects for longer than needed. Ryu can be described as a hard worker, with immense focus and concentration, so much so that he can block out almost any outside interference, usually causing him to be late to most meetings. He is extremely impatient, and rarely drags out a fight, preferring to end it quickly, and therefore retain energy. He is extremely organized, and as such is charge of the training sessions, squad deployments, and chore distribution many of the squads, whose Captains are to busy to do this for there own squads. He is highly spiritual, and although he follows no religion in particular, he can often be heard quoting various religious texts, as if he was trying to memorize them. He is quite proud of his skills in Shunpo, and although he would never admit it, he gets very upset when anyone calls him slow, going so far as to draw his sword on a fellow Captain, in front of the C.C., when he jokingly remarked that Ryu was "getting slow", due to Ryu being the last of the Captains to arrive. He carries himself with a calm confidence that exudes into his squad mates, giving them a slight boost in self confidence just by him being there. He is know for his rousing speeches (usually given in a monotone voice, which dampens their effect), and was once able to rally an entire platoon of troops about to be routed by Rebel forces, leading the counter attack himself, showing his immense bravery (although he prefers the term "Stupidity"). Due to his "Modification", his body ages even slower than that of most Shinigami, aging physically only 1 year for every 100 years he has lived, which has given him life experience beyond that of most living beings, and as such is considered one of the wisest Captains (when he can contain emotions). He is Extremely self critical, and always under plays his roles in battles, preferring to give the glory and honor to others, although they in turn shove it back at him. Usually.

Ryu was originally born in the labs of the 12th division, who were working on a "Super soldier" project codenamed "Rebirth" to combat the Growing Arrancar threat. For the Next 30 years, he, along with hundreds of other children, were bombarded by thousands upon thousands of tests and modifications to their physical and mental capabilities, as well as extensive changes to there souls themselves, hoping to create the ultimate Shinigami, capable of utterly destroying the Arrancar. Ryu was the only subject that survived the experiments, and
as such was branded "Subject Alpha". The 12th Division then set out to train him, and during one of these training sessions he killed the 12th squad Captain in sole combat, with only a wooden sword. He was then Detained, through much effort, and thrown into prison, where he was beaten and tortured for almost 5 years before he managed to escape. he was hounded for almost a year by the Second squad, and barely managed to escape them by hiding in the Rukongai District, underneath the house of street vendor, who later took him in when he was declared Dead.

For next 3 years of his new life, he hid in an area of the Rukongai where gang violence was prevalent, and as such Ryu learned not to form attachments at an "early" age (he was over 50 at the time, but had no psychological development at all), after watching the people who where sheltering him get slaughtered by a local band of thieves. He was Quick to avenge them, and soon after left the area, for a less violent district. For the next 10 years, Ryu would scrounge what he could steal from street vendors, becoming know locally as the "Red Menace", and although he was never caught, he always was wary of being thrown in prison, although at the time he didn’t know the secret to his success lay in his natural affinity for shunpo, and the Titan Project modifications. It was only when he tried to steal some money from a passing Shinigami, who just happened to be the V.C. of the 10th squad at the time, that he learned about his skills (after of course, being caught by the V.C., who chased him halfway across the district to retrieve his stolen coin purse.) The man immediately recognized his skill, and took him under his wing, teaching him everything he could about being a Shinigami. Ryu quickly caught on, becoming so skilled that he repeatedly defeated his mentor in almost every category except Physical Strength, of which he had little. After only 3 years of training, he was sent to the 10th squad as unseated officer, being one of the very few to bypass the Academy.

After training for only a few months, was given the Third Seat of the 10th Squad, quickly attaining his Shikai and proving himself to be a formidable warrior in his own right. He would stay on as the third seat of Squad two for nearly 100 years, training to attain and master his Bankai. After training for 107 years, he not only had attained his Bankai, he had mastered it as well, a feat that rivaled that of many previous prodigies. He was raised to V.C. soon after, seeing as his mentor had passed away from old age (he was nearly 800 years old). Upon gaining V.C. the Arrancar War broke out, and when his Captain was killed during the fighting to defend the Seiretei, Ryu took over as Acting Captain for the next 50 years, until he was officially given the Position by the C.C., after the war. He would fight in many prominent battles during the 50 year occupation, including one where he rallied the broken Shinigami army to take back the outer fringes of the SS, earning him the title "Red Demon of Rukongai", as well as being wounded twice defending the retreating Shinigami troops, one of which earned him the title "God of Flash", when he decimated an entire squad (sixteen enemies) of Arrancar in under 5 seconds. He is considered one of the strongest Captains alive, and as such is currently in charge of the reconstruction of the Seiretei, as well as protecting the Residents of Karakura Town, a job he does with brutal effectiveness. He has currently destroyed 2 Espada, 7 other Arrancars, and a staggering 7450 hollows, including 6 Vasto Lordes.

Stepping through the Senkaimon, Ryu sprinted through the gateway quickly, molding his reiatsu into the familiar Shunpo mold for added speed. He was needed immediately in Karakura Town, and had not a moment to waste. Reaching the end of the portal, He quickly released the reiatsu beneath his feet, and slid his knife out of it Sheath. It felt good to have it in his hands again. It had been a very long time since he had fought against any stronger than a Hollow. Molding his reiatsu under His feet once more, Ryu began to race forwards as fast as he could, which was quite fast. He WAS the fastest Shinigami Alive after all. Stopping just above the Hospital, Ryu reached out to see if he could sense the Arrancar. There. He could sense it now. By the size of the Arrancars spirit energy, it wasn’t an Espada. Ryu knew better than to assume, but he wasn’t thinking about that at the time. He HAD to get there before it killed anymore humans. It was his Job to protect this town, and he Wouldn’t let anymore Souls fall into the hands if those filthy creatures, no matter what! Re-Entering Shunpo, he flashed right in front of it, his knife ready to kill. The Arrancar(it wasn't an Espada, he could see the "107" tattooed on its hand,) Sensed Ryu before it saw him, but before it could even react, Ryu was right in front of it, his knife slashing across its chest just as he reappeared. The Arrancar was fast though. It managed to dodge the larger part of Ryu's strike, only getting a tiny cut in its Heirro. The Arrancar reached for its blade, tossing out a crude remark about how Ryu was so slow he could only scratch him. that Pissed Ryu off. ALOT. He HATED it when People called him slow. Re-entering Shunpo, Ryu appeared behind the Arrancar just as it finished drawing its blade, but it was too late. Thrusting his knife into its throat, Ryu growled as blood spurted from its wound, splattering his coat with Dark Red Blood. It didn’t faze him at all. Pulling the blade towards him, Ryu cut into the Arrancars neck, severing its spinal cord just below the Cerebellum, causing even more blood to come out of the Arrancars neck, this time covering his face with a fine layer of Dark Red liquid. It wouldn’t die right away, but it wasn’t a threat anymore, and would soon fall into unconsciousness. It would die soon afterwards. But for now, it was conscious, which was all he needed. Lowering his blade, Ryu caught the Arrancar as it fell, lowering it to the ground as it began to Drift into unconsciousness. Ryu whispered in its ear, "Every being deserves know the name of the one that killed him. Even twisted beings such as you. I am Ryusuke Korai, Captain of Squad 3, of the 13 Court Guard Squads. Welcome the last embrace of the Mother, Arrancar. May your soul find Peace where ours cannot."
The Arrancar muttered a curse, if the gurgling sound coming from its throat could be called a curse, and Ryu smiled grimly. A flash of anger crossed Ryu's face, and Ryu plunged his knife into the Arrancars heart with enough force to crack several of its ribs. Pulling his knife free, he wiped it on the Arrancars Cloak, and placed it back in its sheath. Lazily Molding his reiatsu underneath his feet, he tiredly Shunpo'd back towards the gateway. He wasn’t really tired, but he felt it. The C.C. had said he had been pushing himself to hard. But who else was there? None of the other Captains would even [i]look[i] at a piece of paperwork, let alone fill one out! Idiots. Sighing to himself, Ryu pushed his complaints away. He had a report to give to the C.C. on his the progress of his mission. He hated Reports. So tedious. So.... boring. He hated boring. Almost as much as he hated feeling. He shouldn’t have let his emotions take control of him like that. He should have stayed emotionless the ENTIRE time. But lately, his emotions were beginning to thaw. He could remember a time when he would have destroyed that Arrancar without saying a single word, not even reacting to its idiotic taunts. He was getting soft. He hoped it didn’t last. He HAD to be hard. Ryu sensed another Spirit source, not far from where he was. One MUCH more powerful than the one he had just killed. Muttering a curse, Ryu raced forwards once more. He couldn’t allow ANYTHING that powerful to be walking around without first knowing if it was an enemy or not. Ryu reached the source of the spirit energy quickly, and almost immediately found what he was looking for. Another Arrancar. Quickly drawing his knife, Ryu readied himself, preparing to kill this Arrancar just as he had the other. Before he could move though, he was struck by something from behind, and fell to his knees. A Bala! How had it gotten past him? Getting to his feet, Ryu looked at the Arrancar again. THIS one WAS an Espada. And judging by the tatto on its face, it was the Tercera. Muttering a curse, Ryu drew his knife, and readied himself. Molding his Reiatsu underneath his feet, Ryu Shunpo’d forwards, intent on killing the Espada as quickly as he could. Slashing at the Espadas chest, he was surprised to find that not only did his knife not go through him, but that the Espada had drawn his sword across Ryu’s torso, cutting open his gut. Pain flashed through Ryu’s mind, but he forced it down. Anger bubbled tot eh surface, but when he tried to push it down, the pain cam back up, even worse than before. Snarling in frustration, Ryu pointed his knife at the Espada, and screamed as loud as he could,"Whisper, Yaiba no Fuzei!" Ryu’s knife extended itself, forming into the familiar long red sword he used during his practice sessions. Ryu could feel the air around him stir, coming under his control almost immediately.
Smiling to himself, Ryu Shunpo'd straight towards the Espada, crossing the distance between them almost instantly. He slashed his sword across its chest, and at the same time molded his Air Burst power into a thin line, designed to cut it in half. Instead of killing it, however, it only gave the Espada a large gash on its torso! It must have an extremely strong Heirro to be able to withstand that! Taking an offensive stance, he kept up the attacks, not slowing down on bit, slicing and chopping at the Espada, landing hits nearly every time he swung his sword, and yet the Espada continued to somehow survive! Screaming in frustration, Ryu compressed his “Air Bubble” onto himself, forming into a kind of air armor, although it was far from it. Shunpoing towards the Arrancar, he slid his blade into the Espadas throat, piercing through its Heirro and going through towards the other side almost instantly. Ripping his Sword towards his left, Ryu tears out half of it neck easily, Blood began to spurt all over his clothes, but he didn’t care. He had let his emotions take control of him again. And it had almost cost him his life. fingering the gash across his chest, he sheathed his sword, sealing it back into a knife. Ryu tiredly Shunpo'd towards the gateway, not even bothering to clean his clothes, or bandage the now bleeding gash across his chest. He would do it later. After he filed that report.

Yaiba Appears in Ryu's inner world as a whirl of air, never having any true form other than that of the wind.

A combat knife, with a curved hilt made of balsa wood, wrapped in leather, with yellow thread for bindings. The bottom of the hilt is made of steel, with a slight protrusion on one side with which Ryu can remove the knife form its sheath with both speed and stealth. It has a tippied point at the bottom, allowing him to knock out his targest instead of killing them. The Hilt Guard is also made of steel, with Ryu's symbol engraved into the center, a black dragon breathing fire onto a hollow. The Blade is curved, with additonal curves added onto the bottom of the blade fo added damage and penteration. It is very thin, and is designed to slip in between gaps in an opponents armor, as well as the gaps in between ribs and other bones.
